The characteristics of featherboard

Sometimes called foam board or kadapak, feather board is a rigid yet very light material because it is made up of a layer of polyurethane surrounded by two thin layers of cardboard. Ideal formedium to long term advertising, this material is easy to handle and hang.

Being made of foam and cardboard only, the featherboard panel is not waterproof or windproof, so it is best used for indoor communication. For outdoor use, we advise you to turn to a PVC or forex panel, or a construction panel, which are more robust.

The lightness and ease of installation of the large format featherboard support make it ideal for many occasions: decoration of professional premises, communication in a point of sale or during a trade show or display of information intended for the visitors of a place (medical cabinet, public building, etc).

Thanks to its thickness of several millimetres, the featherboard panel is easily noticeable and makes a difference compared to a classic poster which could blend into the decor due to its thinness. Light and strong, it allows you to create original 3D shapes and thus attract the attention of passers-by or customers.

Options for customising your panel

The first criterion to consider when ordering is the thickness of your featherboard: you can choose between a 5 mm foam and a 10 mm foam. The 5 mm version is more economical, but slightly less resistant and less rigid, so it is up to you to choose the one that best suits your needs.

Next comes the choice of format. So that each professional can have a featherboard that corresponds exactly to his expectations but also to the place where he wishes to install it, we suggest you choose several dimensions:

• 50 x 50 cm
• 50 x 70 cm
• 140 x 140 cm
• 100 x 140 cm

None of these formats suits you? No problem: you can also opt for the custom format with custom dimensions for your large format featherboard.

To go even further, we also offer you the possibility to choose the shape of your panel. You can opt for a square, rectangular or round shape, but you can also create the shape yourself using a vector plot. A good way to stand out from the competition with an original sign!

Finally, you can embellish and reinforce your featherboard panel by applying a lamination. This option, which consists of applying a plastic film to your material, makes it glossy or matt and protects it from UV rays, rubbing, knocks and dust. This will make your panel last longer.

Good to know: the featherboard panel can be printed only on the front or on both sides. This solution allows you to benefit from two different visuals to be alternated or to double the communication surface, by placing it on a suitable support leaving both sides visible to the public.

Our tips for fixing your featherboard

• Hanging tabs: supplied unglued, these small tabs are fixed to the back of the panel and then glued to the wall. They are economical, but do not allow for double-sided printing.
• The cardboard easel: ideal when you don't want to put your sign against a wall or a shop window, the easel makes the support mobile, so you can place it directly on the floor or on a piece of furniture such as a counter.
• Hangers: Perfect for double-sided designs, the suspension fasteners come in two versions. You can choose between simple perforations in the panel itself or eyelets that prevent the panel from tearing under its own weight.

If you opt for suspension, we suggest you choose hooks, metal rods or clamps with which you can attach your featherboard to grids, for example. A solution that also offers a lot of mobility, as you can move your board as much as you like.
